San Diego, CA – May 1, 2006 - Mpex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that Dana Krzyston has joined the company as Vice President of Finance and Operations. She will be a member of Mpex's executive management team and responsible for all operations, accounting and financial activities for the Company. Mpex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a San Diego-based pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of new antibacterial drugs to meet the growing clinical need created by resistant bacterial infections.

Ms. Krzyston brings to Mpex 18 years of accounting and finance experience, primarily with companies in the healthcare and life sciences arena. From September 2002 through November 2005, Ms. Krzyston served as Controller of Tensys Medical, Inc., a medical device start-up company, with broad responsibilities in financial planning, accounting, treasury, and operations. Ms. Krzyston played a key role in securing $21 million in private placement venture funding for Tensys.

Prior to Tensys, Ms. Krzyston was employed by Nanogen, Inc., a publicly traded biotechnology company from April 1996 through September 2002, in financial positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as Sr. Director of Finance. She was responsible for establishing adequate internal accounting controls and developing the necessary reporting mechanisms to support the company's initial public offering and subsequent SEC reporting requirements. Prior to that, Ms. Krzyston held various financial positions at Pyxis Corporation (now part of Cardinal Health, Inc.), a manufacturer of automated drug and supply distribution systems, from March 1992 through April 1996, during a period of dynamic growth.
